About Us

The word TistiK means “A Warm welcome to you!” in the Mayan language. TistiK showcases the artisanal work of up and coming Latin American designers.

Owner Perla Brito Cuevas is from Taxco, a beautiful small town in the southern part of Mexico known for its talented silversmiths and Skilled Artisans. She grew up surrounded by beautiful Jewelry and Handcrafts, and got to know many of the Artists making them.

Having traveled extensively in Mexico and around the world, she realized that there was too many beautiful things made by talented artisans but, sometimes they didn’t have the audience that would appreciate their products. So, after graduating from Babson College with a degree in Entrepreneurship and Marketing, Perla decided to bring the products she found so fascinating from her home country to Boston.

Perla opened TistiK in Harvard Square in June of 2008 offering products from Mexican Artists, but since then, she has added more Artisans from other countries in Latin America.

In 2010, the Taxco location was opened, offering mostly home décor products from Mexican designers.
