Maku
Maku means “beautiful” in the Catalan language of Spain. Artist Hector Carabes is originally from Guadalajara, Mexico, but studied the art of jewelry making in Barcelona, Spain. While there he became inspired by the commissioned artwork of Antoni Gaudi and discovered his excitement for working with colorful glass and the name for his line of fused glass jewelry.
Now back in his Guadalajara, Mexico studio he works with his wife Anna to create different patterns of colorful glass designs against a clear sheet of glass making beautiful, modern and unique pieces that appeal to a wide variety of people.
